Educators’ roles and responsibilities continue to increase, causing professionals to experience feelings of being overwhelmed, anxious, and stressed as part of their daily life. The code of Ethics for the American Counseling Association (ACA: ACA, 2014) states that counselors should “engage in self-care activities.” Similarly, the Association of American Educators Code of Ethics states that professional educators should “maintain sound mental health.” Participants in this course will learn effective self-care tips, tools, and strategies through practical activities, structured experiences, and group discussions. This interactive course will help participants assess current self-care strategies and identify needs improvement areas for better work/life balance. Participants can select practical strategies from a self-care domain activities list to create short and long-term smart goals and develop a personal self-care plan.
